font differences
Ever wanted to know the difference between Akzidenz, Univers, Helvetica and Arial? Fred Design has you covered. I've been doing a lot of type research lately. As the graphic designer for the college I work for, I need to come up with a new standard typeface moving forward with our marketing pieces. There are so many choices and things to consider before we make the big leap.
(not marilyn) monroe
I've been having an affair with a new font named Monroe. Sudtipos characterizes Monroe as fashionable and rocker - and I'd have to agree. What's not to love?

our old home: sitting area
Remember my post about our living room? Well, we have finally made a little headway with some new furniture pieces and accessories. We (unfortunately) need a new roof so most of our home improvement projects are currently on hold until after the new year. The inspiration board for the sitting area is below and I'll have photos of the living room tomorrow!

artist: kevin cherry
I've had Kevin Cherry's fllickr photostream bookmarked for awhile now and keep going back to the galleries for inspiration. Love the distressed look and bright reds. Can't wait to see more work from him.

digital lizard
There's a new online printing company in the web world called Digital Lizard. Their prices are competitive, they offer short run quantities and their equipment is impressive (offset HP indigo machines). I'm eyeing their $14.95 price for a fully customizable deck of playing cards. Wouldn't that be an awesome promo item?

modern mural
Modern Mural is a pretty cool concept and website. Choose a design and then choose the configuration of the final piece. There are giclee, canvas, gallery frame options in multiple sized configurations - not to mention the prices are very reasonable for such large pieces. They even have a feature that allows you to upload your own high resolution photos and create truly personalized canvas art. I think it would be really interesting to create your own vector designs and upload them - a graphic designers, home interior design dream come true!
erin petson
I discovered Erin Petson's work while perusing through the new and amazing paper runway magazine (which you absolutely must check out - it's gorgeous!). Erin's work has been described as ethereal and edgy. Her clients include Lancome, Oprah and Marie Claire.
crafty july
I know that 4th of July is way off, but I thought I'd share a crafty idea from Family Fun Magazine that I found through Pinterest. How cute and easy is this? Found via Kendra Dunstan. Also - check out Kendra's other pins, she's found some pretty incredible things!
cozaMIA
Just discovered cozamia's little print shop, and I'm in love with the prints she has available. I completely adore the pinks, peaches and textures.
title sequence, the killing
I spent a lot of time on the couch last weekend, working on my portfolio website. With the tv blaring in the background - the preview below came on. Without knowing what the show was about, I immediately DVR'ed the next few shows. I figured if the title sequence was cool, chances are the show had some potential. Immediately, I wanted to know more about the designer of the sequence which led me to sarofsky | design driven production, via Art of the Title. That's probably more resources to title design than you ever needed, but interesting nonetheless. Happy weekend everyone!
